Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
It is not a specified type of eating disorder and is generally characterized by persistent and recurrent binge eating with no regular use of compensatory measures to counter the binge eating.
Binge Eating Disorder can be recognized if you experience the following features or characteristics:
- Frequent and repeated episodes of eating heavy quantities of food in short breaks
- Feeling that he/she has no control over the eating behavior.
- Feeling ashamed or disgusted by the behavior.
Other than the characteristics given above there are also several behavioral indicators of BED that may include eating even when you are not hungry, or eating alone and in secret.
