Bulimia Nervosa
This is a serious eating disorder that may prove fatal at times. Usually, Bulimia Nervosa is characterized by a cycle of bingeing and compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting. People with this disorder puke with a design to undo or balance the effects of their binge eating.
Bulimia Nervosa has the following three primary symptoms:
- Regular intake of large amounts of food accompanied by a sense of loss of control over eating behavior.
- Regular use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting, laxative or diuretic abuse, fasting, and/or bsessive or compulsive exercise.
- Extreme concern with body weight and shape.
As in the case of Anorexia Nervosa, eating disorder specialists consider that the chance for recovery increases the earlier bulimia nervosa is noticed. It would be good to be aware of the early symptoms of bulimia nervosa, so that the patient can be treated at the earliest.
